The seminar entitled "Biodiversity as the Main Resource for National Development" was held on 30-31 October 2013 at Hotel Borobudur, Jakarta. The seminar itself was established by Ministry of Environment RI alongside the commemoration of Day of Appreciation for Flora and Wildlife. The seminar was divided into two main events. The first was public seminar and the second was exhibition consisting of various booth and poster session from participants. Both events were conducted throughout the two-days seminar.
On first day, the seminar was opened by Prof. Dr. Balthasar Kambuaya, MBA as the current minister of environment. The seminar continue until lunch time and the schedule switch into focus group discussion. The participants then divided into four groups and the discussion took place in four different rooms. Approximately reaching 100 persons, the participants came from various universities throughout Indonesia, government sectors, and NGOs. Some of the university students also contributed in poster session. On second day, the first agenda was an open discussion with Prof. Emil Salim and Ir. Arif Yuwono, moderated by Dr. Jatna Supriatna from RCCC UI. The discussion has attracted many opinions and questions from participants in response to Prof. Emil Salim's speech. The focus group discussion was resumed from yesterday schedule and the result then presented in front of all participants at night.
