Former Ambassador Extraordinary of Indonesia to the United States (Duta Besar RI untuk US); Former Coordinating Minister of Economy Republic of Indonesia (Menko Perekonomian RI); Former Dean of the FEUI period 1994-1997 had a chance to become Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Indonesia to the United States in the period 1998 - 2001 during the presidency of President Soeharto, President B.J. Habibie, and President Abdurrachman Wahid. After that, when the banking and monetary crisis is still plagued Indonesia, he was appointed as Minister for Economic Affairs in the Cabinet of Mutual-Aid RI. At that time, his task is to coordinate the improvement efforts of Indonesia's economy while still coordinating with Bank Indonesia, the IMF, World Bank, and CGI. In 2005, he was appointed by the President Susilo B. Yudhoyono as Co-Chair Panel 45 with Mr. Ali Alatas, S.H. RI specifically to formulate a position on the UN General Assembly to-60. Currently, he is a member of the Steering Board of the National Resilience Institute of RI (LEMHANNAS RI). Because of his services, in 2005 he was awarded Charter and Honorary Signs Mahaputera Adipradana on behalf of the State of RI by President Susilo B. Yudhoyono. Currently, he is the Commissioner of BTPN, Commissioner Independent Insurance Company AIA in Indonesia, PT. Hero Supermarket, as well as on Vice President Commissioner of PT Mitra Global Maxim.
