Dr. Nurul L. Winarni
Lecturer at Department of Biology Faculty of Mathematics and Science (Ecology & Conservation Biology)
Prior to joining RCCC-UI, Nurul Winarni has been worked as a field biologist for years and has worked in various field research projects, from observing game animal to bird, primates, and butterflies particularly in Lampung and Buton, South-east Sulawesi. Graduated from Biology, FMIPA-UI, had master degree from Warnell School of Forest Resources, University of Georgia, and finished her Ph.D. from Manchester Metropolitan University, her studies mainly focused on bird population dynamics, community ecology on birds and butterflies particularly on the effect of anthropogenic disturbance to bird and butterfly community, as well as evaluating the use of birds and butterflies as species indicator of disturbance. She is also interested in biodiversity monitoring and survey methodology, research design and analysis. As member of Pheasant Specialist Group (PSG) and Partridge, Quail, and Francolin Specialist Group (PQFSG) of the IUCN Species Survival Commission, she is one of the least resource persons for Indonesian pheasant. In the context of climate change, she has been studying the impact of climate change to phenological patterns of tropical rainforest trees and the response of biodiversity to climate change.
