“Human Rights and Human Obligation: What can be Done to Address Climate Change?” by Jostein Gaarder

Jostein Gaarder is a famous writer from Norway. One of his best book, Sophie's World, is an international best-seller and has been translated into 55 languages across the globe—including Indonesian. Furthermore, this title was also a best-seller in Indonesia and became a mandatory book for philosophy student at University of Indonesia.

Jostein Gaarder has given general lecture entitled 'Human Rights and Human Obligation – What can be Done to Address Climate Change?". The lecture was one of Polar Norway Exhibition agenda which was conducted by RCCC UI on October 12^nd, 2011 at Auditorium, Central Library UI. The lecture described about the role, human right and responsibility in order to cope with impacts of climate change. Jostein Gaarder, as a philosopher, could stated the information about global impact of climate change in the easiest way of thinking. He could gave the examples and analogies in a way so everyone who participated could understood the complicated scientific explanation in their own logical thinking.

Jostein Gaarder's lecture has attracted hundred of participants to come. The participant numbers had reached a total of 269 attendants—a breaking record for participant numbers in Polar Norway Exhibition. The lecture was ended by book-signing and taking photograph with the author.
